The first time I visited Aztec Dahlias, I wandered the field covered with dahlias every shade imaginable, and was in awe of a flower that is truly one of nature's miracles.
After talking with Kate, the farmer/owner, I was inspired by her story she told me of how she fearlessly changed course in her professional life to pursue farming.
It resonated with me as I had also changed my life completely when I decided to pursue jewelry design twenty years ago.
I thought of all the women I knew who had similar stories, and we decided to gather together in Kate’s field of dahlias to celebrate our individual journeys and accomplishments, and to talk about the challenges we face as business women, moms, entrepreneurs and hard workers.
We shared delicious charcuterie by my friend Katie of Katie Powers Catering, and rose' by winemaker Gianna of Wandermust Wine.
Our day ended up being so much more than we all expected.....as we sat around our long rustic table blooming with flowers and goodies we opened our minds and hearts to one another.
Everyone shared fearlessly and listened intently as our little group both accepted and appreciated one another for the stories and life experiences we each had to offer.
We all agreed that we need more of this type of experience in our lives.....taking a moment to breath, be inspired and be heard.
